Senior Coordinator, Employment Programs (Employment Services Program)

 BGC East Scarborough is seeking a passionate, organized, and community-focused Coordinator, Employment Programs to design, coordinate, and deliver impactful employment and life-skills programming for youth ages 15–30 who are out of school and out of work. This role plays a critical part in creating safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces where young people can build employability skills, confidence, and pathways to meaningful employment.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Senior Coordinator works closely with youth participants, employers, and community partners and regularly travels within the community to support program delivery, employer engagement, and job placements.

 

Major Responsibilities

 Program Coordination & Leadership (50%)

• Coordinate, implement, and evaluate youth employment programs focused on employability, life skills, and career exploration.

• Supervise project staff and support program participants.

• Ensure program compliance with organizational policies, funder requirements, and best practices.

• Deliver or coordinate employability, job readiness, and skill-development workshops as required.

• Recruit youth participants and volunteers using approved outreach and marketing strategies.

• Coordinate weekly job development and placement goals for youth requiring additional support.

• Conduct intake, screening, assessment, and selection of participants in collaboration with the project team.

• Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized case plans for participants during and after the program.

• Manage crisis situations in collaboration with the Project Manager and Youth Outreach Workers.

• Coordinate appropriate community referrals for participants transitioning out of the program.

• Complete additional leadership-related duties as required.

 

Employer & Community Partnerships (30%)

• Actively engage local employers to develop job placements and employment opportunities for youth.

• Travel within the community to meet employers, participants, and partner agencies.

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations and stakeholders.

• Promote employment programs through information sessions, job fairs, conferences, and community events.

• Resolve employment-related concerns between employers and participants.

• Research recruitment trends, employer needs, and effective job-matching strategies.

 • Identify recruitment channels and promote program opportunities to employers.

• Stay current on labour market trends and best practices in employment programming.

 

Administration & Reporting (20%)

• Maintain accurate participant records, case notes, and tracking systems.

• Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative program data for funders and stakeholders.

• Prepare weekly, monthly, and end-of-project reports.

• Collect, verify, and submit participant timesheets and attendance records.

• Complete all required documentation for funding compliance and internal approvals.

• Support proposal development and future program planning initiatives.

• Assist with other administrative duties as assigned.

 

Key Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Social Services, Human Services, or a related field.

• Diploma in Human Resources or a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.

• Experience in job development, employment programming, recruitment, or vocational training.

• Strong understanding of employment law, labour relations, and workplace legislation.

• Demonstrated experience working with youth facing barriers to employment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising or mentoring staff.

• Knowledge of youth development principles and employment networks.

• Familiarity with the Scarborough community and its diversity is an asset.

• Demonstrated commitment to youth empowerment, equity, and inclusion.

 

Working Conditions

 

• Combination of office-based, community-based, and occasional outdoor work.

• Evening and weekend work may be required to support programs and events.

• Regular travel to satellite sites, employer locations, job fairs, workshops, and community meetings.

 

Driver & Travel Requirement (Mandatory)

 

• Valid Ontario Driver’s License.

 • Access to a reliable vehicle.

• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to meet youth participants, employers, and community partners.

Employment Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) – until November 15th, 2026

Salary Range: $50,000 – $58,000 per year
